Since 1992, we’ve worked on a variety of design projects – from beautiful homes on Queen Anne and office spaces in Fortune 500 offices in downtown Seattle – to work lofts in Pioneer Square and medical centers in Bellevue.

ABOUT SARA JOHNSON
Sara Johnson founded SMJ Studio in 1992 after a career as an executive in the fashion and retail industry in the Seattle area, including serving as a buyer for Nordstrom. Since founding her company, she has earned a reputation for excellence in the commercial, residential and hospitality design industries on the west coast.
A third generation Seattleite, Sara comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Her vision and creative energy provide inspiration to her clients and her design influence can be seen in high-end hotels, office spaces and residences throughout the region. Whether you are seeking a traditional or contemporary look for your space – or something in-between, Sara and her team are adept at mapping their designs to your distinctive lifestyle and needs.
Sara, whose credits include custom-designed bedding for the Pope, creates fresh, innovative approaches to each new project and her strong organizational and communication skills enable her to collaborate very effectively with her clients. She fosters a highly creative, yet focused work environment for her team and oversees the number-one workroom in the Emerald city, located in Ballard – one of Seattle’s most vibrant urban neighborhoods.
